Some recent construction photos

Took these on a walk around town Memorial Day Weekend. Before I moved closer to Strathmere 4 years ago, I was always interested in getting to Strathmere to see what new building was going on. I take these photos assuming others are curious too.

This is a new construction that popped up on Bayview, there was nothing there previously.

Next, also on Bayview are two bayfront rebuilds

They somehow managed to squeeze another new house onto Randolph -

This large house is going up across from the Shack -

And the Rita C. Schiavo Strathmere Library is just about finished!

NJ Monthly gives Strathmere a little mention in their new '100 Shore Things Guide' issue

Shore Things: Destinations

'Strathmere
Nestled between tourist-heavy Ocean City and Sea Isle City, the tiny town of Strathmere is one of the Shore’s best-kept secrets. Formerly known as Corson’s Inlet, the town has a population of less than 200; its 1.5-mile-long stretch of serene beach provides a getaway for undisturbed surfing, fishing, and kayaking.'

A message from the Strathmere Improvement Association

To all Strathmere and Whale Beach homeowners and visitors,

Summer is coming! In early May, the air and water temperature here are both still in the low 50's, but keep the faith!

The Strathmere Improvement Association includes all residents of and many visitors to Strathmere. It was founded over 50 years ago as a community organization with the simple objective of making Strathmere a better place. We are proud of the organization's many accomplishments over the years.

We're sending this newsletter by e-mail to as many of you as possible. We'd like to reduce our postage costs and direct our resources toward - Improvement! We'll be sending postcards to those for whom we don't have e-mail addresses and pleading with them to give us theirs.

We've attached a condensed version of the Township's trash and recycling information from here . We urge everyone to read it carefully (some of it may come as a surprise), and then print it out and put it on your refrigerator or somewhere handy.
Two things especially: (1) both trash and recycling will be picked up on all Mondays - including holiday weekends - this summer, and (2) please don't put any trash with foodstuffs or other garbage out in plastic bags. Your neighbors don't mind putting away trash cans after you've gone home, but they do mind cleaning up a mess scattered by seagulls! Thank you!

The Strathmere beach replenishment project is currently scheduled for late June into July...

SIA Meeting Schedule - All Are Welcome: We will be meeting at the Firehouse at 8:00 pm on the second Friday of each month; June 12, July 10, August 14 and September 18 (third Friday). We moved the start time back to 8:00 to accommodate requests from folks coming down for the weekends.

Stock up on Strathmere "Stuff": Last year we decided to make available some items that were very popular. We offered a $25 ice cooler bag that, as seen here, has multiple uses:

These two uses (and others) were so popular that we only have a very few left. Unfortunately, we have a minimum order issue, so we'll need to take names for additional coolers and will get more when we get enough orders.

This year, we'll be offering Strathmere caps ($15) and visors ($10). We're also offering children's tee shirts ($10), as modeled below. The shirts come in children's extra-small, small, medium, large and adult small (same size as children's large but longer).

Strathmere "stuff" may be purchased from any officer and will be available in front of the Post Office from 8:00 to 2:00 on Saturday, May 23.

Dues are due at $10 per adult each year. The dues and the fund raisers provide for printing the trash regulations, mailing the post cards, funding the Fourth of July Parade, and our share of the Star Party and Christmas Party. We also donated money to help pay for extra State Police protection. If you have adult children or relatives (or visitors) who visit Strathmere, please forward this message to them - perhaps they'd like to be members also.

Please send dues payments to SIA at PO Box 57, Strathmere, NJ 08248. Remember to tell us your e-mail address!

Also, please let us know if you have comments or suggestions for the newsletter or for SIA in general, or if you'd like us to change your e-mail address in our records.

You can contact us by responding to this e-mail ( sia6@comcast.net, by e-mailing Donna Diefenderfer at donnad921@comcast.net or mailing SIA at PO Box 57.
