The Strathmere Improvement Association invites all owners, renters and vacationers in Strathmere and Whale Beach to join as dues paying members. The SIA was founded in 1951 as a community organization with the simple objective of making Strathmere a better place. We work to preserve our town’s “hometown feeling” and to keep lines of communication open within town, and with local government.

We are proud of the organization's many accomplishments over the years, including sponsorship of 2012 Centennial activities, taking on a key organizing and leadership role in Strathmere and Whale Beach relief efforts after Sandy, and hosting an annual community beach party and concert. Additionally, the July and August SIA meetings feature programs of interest to vacationers and homeowners.

Your dues allow us to continue to co-sponsor the Christmas Party and the Fourth of July Parade, as well as the above mentioned activities.

Once again, we are keeping annual dues to $10 per adult family member. When it’s time to vote, SIA by-laws say your dues must be paid in order to cast a vote. We thank you for your support.
Please send your dues payments to SIA at PO Box 57, Strathmere, NJ 08248. Remember to tell us your correct e-mail address!

Also, please let us know if you have comments or suggestions for the newsletter or for SIA in general, or if you'd like us to change your e-mail address in our records.
You can contact us by responding to this e-mail at strathmere1912@gmail.com or by mailing SIA at PO Box 57.

SIA Newsletter 7 25 2014 - July 4 Parade Pics (2) - The Deauville Inn

To All Strathmere and Whale Beach Homeowners and Visitors,

At the Deauville, it was a full, but soggy, house.

Cool music served up once again by Lew London, while everyone enjoyed free hot dogs and cold drinks provided by the Deauville

Butch Vandegrift acted as emcee, and parade co-chair Diane Cappellucci took the mike to thank everyone who came out and everyone who worked to make the day a success despite the weather

Then Deb Vandegrift sang, “God Bless America”.

Following the awards, Lynda drew the winner for the Deauville Bike Raffle.

The SIA would like to thank the Parade Co-Chairs, Diane Cappellucci and Karen Mitchell, for all their work in pulling the parade together.

They in turn would like to thank the registrars, giveaway distributors and judges, in addition to the fire companies who participated, Uncle Bill’s, Butch and Debbie
and of course Lynda and the Deauville Inn.

Pictures came from several sources – thanks to all who contributed!

Here’s to a dry parade in 2015!

SIA Newsletter 7 25 2014 - July 4 Parade Pics (1) - Firehouse & (Wet) Parade

To All Strathmere and Whale Beach Homeowners and Visitors, Unfortunately,

Hurricane Arthur decided to pass off our coast just when we had planned our annual Strathmere Fourth of July Parade.
We have never had a parade rained out, so the Strathmere Volunteer Fire Company, which is responsible for both the permits and the insurance for the parade, had only secured permits, etc., for July 4.  Accordingly, they made the decision to proceed with the “parade” despite the terrible weather.
Judging took place inside the Firehouse, and then the participants marched / ran / floated directly to the Deauville Inn for the awards. Only the fire engines and a few hardy folks followed the normal parade route down Commonwealth and back up Bayview.

Ella and Morgan console Karen Mitchell – Co-Chairperson of the Parade.

These guys apparently did the whole route!

The McCormac Family came out to watch in the rain.
