Point photos - Memorial Day Weekend

Here are some more post-storm photos, taken Memorial Day Weekend

On Neptune, looking towards the ocean -

More views at Neptune, with the 75 foot 'emergency bulkhead' that the township put in last week. It only covers about 1/3 of the hole though. The dune there is totally gone and there is nothing there to stop people from walking on what's left of the dune.

Standing on the steps at Seacliff, looking north -

Seacliff looking south -

Low tide on what's left of the point -

On the point, looking towards the bridge, which is having some work done on it.

Photos from the Press of Atlantic City

From the Press of Atlantic City 5/14

'The storm dumped 3 feet of sand onto Landis Avenue, temporarily closing the main drag in Sea Isle City. It caved in the corner of Neptune Road in Strathmere and brought the framed trusses of the new Avalon police station crashing to the ground.'

Strathmere was without electricity for nearly 30 hours.

Dunes were washed out during the night near Dolphin Beach -

The sand dune at Neptune & Seaview was totally washed out. The beach was open right at the street. Slabs of old concrete were exposed. Access to the beach was blocked at Neptune and Seacliff.

All of the sand that the township trucked in washed right out, again. Only the seawall around this house kept it's yard from being washed out.

It's really bad.

An emergency seawall 75 feet long was put in place this weekend to try to keep the ocean from coming up into the street at Neptune & Seaview.
