To all Strathmere and Whale Beach Homeowners and Visitors,
What a great Fourth of July Parade! Pictures can be seen
here.
Lots of "stuff" coming in Strathmere this weekend!
**First, there will be a
book signing at the Schiavo Library from 6:30 to 8:00, Thursday evening, July 8, featuring Carol Plum-Ucci, an author of young adult books such as The Body of Christopher Creed (set in the South Jersey woods).
**
On Friday night 7/9 at 8:00 pm, we'll have our SIA meeting at the Firehouse. We'll conduct a little business, but the main event is a Dessert Competition! Please bring your favorite homemade dessert and your appetite for sweets, and help us pick a winner!
**
On Saturday morning at 10:00 am, the Strathmere (formerly Olympics) Games will be held on the Randolph Road beach (the Olympics people gave the Strathmere Olympics a hard time for using the name and it had to be pulled from the Internet). It's a great spectator sport! Participant registration will be from 5:00 to 8:00 Friday evening at 700 Bayview Drive. For $35, you'll get a tee shirt, catered lunch, a day of great fun and a chance for an award. There are both morning events on the beach and afternoon events at the bay. Contact Gar Bacon at
garbacon@comcast.net for more info. Here are beach and bay pictures from previous years:

Saturday evening (6:00 pm) is one of the highlights of the Strathmere summer season.
The SFEC is holding its Summer Social at the Firehouse. The public is invited, and tickets are only $20, which includes grilled chicken and ribs, plenty of beverages, a DJ and even a (benefit) jewelry sale. A link to pictures of last year's event is
here. Please come out and have a fabulous time!

The Strathmere Improvement Association includes all owners and many visitors to Strathmere and Whale Beach. It was founded over 50 years ago as a community organization with the simple objective of making Strathmere a better place. We are proud of the organization's many accomplishments over the years. Our thanks to all who have paid their SIA Dues ($10 annually per adult). The dues and fund raisers provide for distributing the trash regulations, mailing the post cards, funding the Fourth of July Parade, and our share of the Star Party and Christmas Party. In the past, we've also donated money to help pay for extra State Police protection. If you have adult children or relatives (or visitors) who visit Strathmere, please forward this message to them - perhaps they'd like to be members and receive these e-mail messages also.
You can contact us by responding to this e-mail
sia6@comcast.net or by mailing SIA at PO Box 57 in Strathmere.
Thanks to all for your continuing support!
