Since it's only a little more than three weeks away, it turns out that Santa and his helpers need to get that information from you as soon as possible. Please let us know by replying to this newsletter, emailing Donna Diefenderfer at donnad921@comcast.net  calling Donna at 215-801-5876 (cell) or 609-263-3620 (home); or dropping her a note at PO Box 57 Strathmere, NJ 08248.

An article in this morning's Press of Atlantic City indicates that the dredge to do our beach fill should get here from Texas by the end of this week. Read the article here.

Newsletter 11 10 11 - High Tides, Halloween, Christmas Party and Strathmere Coolers

To All Strathmere and Whale Beach Homeowners and Visitors,

In our last newsletter, we warned you of high tides projected for the last week of October. Luckily, we had southwest winds for almost the whole period and no problems with flooding. On the Friday night before Halloween, however, the wind switched to the northeast all night (many of you had snow at home and lost power) and here's what we had on Bayview Saturday morning (a little fuzzy where rain hit the lens):

After the storm passed up the coast Saturday, the wind came off the land and we had no more flood tides.

Although today (Thursday) is a full moon, particularly high tides are not predicted. However, we'll have a new moon on the day after Thanksgiving, and tides in excess of 5 feet are predicted from Wednesday, 11/23 through Sunday, 11/27. Hopefully, we won't have northeast winds (that) here.

Halloween came the Monday after the pictures above, and we had seven "trick or treaters" in Strathmere.

Pictured are John and Matt Pond, Brian and C.J. Furey, and Casey, Joey and Taylor Coffey.

****************************************************************

The Strathmere Community Christmas Party, sponsored jointly by the SIA and the Strathmere Volunteer Fire Company, will be held at 6:00 pm on Saturday, December 10 at the firehouse. We'll be asking for the names and ages of children attending so Santa can plan appropriately...

*************************************************************

Speaking of Christmas, we still have a dozen or so of the Strathmere Portable Coolers left that will make wonderful Christmas gifts. The cooler can hold 32 cans (if you can lift that many), is heat sealed and comes with an attached bottle opener and a removable floor board. You can put it under the tree with gifts inside!

Originally $30 apiece, we are putting them on sale for $25 or $22.50 for two or more (so buy two and save $15). See the attached flyer for more information. They'll go fast! Simply "reply" to this newsletter to buy and we'll hold them for you..

Veterans' Day is tomorrow, November 11. Take time to thank a veteran!
