Strathmere Improvement Association Newsletter

To all Strathmere and Whale Beach Homeowners and Visitors,

In this issue: SIA Upcoming Events: Meeting Friday (Wine, Cheese & Beer); Yardsale June 26
Strathmere Stuff for Sale; Fourth of July Parade; Dues Are Due

This issue will primarily be dedicated to upcoming SIA events.

Meeting Friday: This Friday evening at 8:00 pm, we will be holding our first meeting of the year. We'll be serving wine and cheese (and some cold beer), so come out to the firehouse and socialize with your Strathmere neighbors! Christine Rohrman, Director of our Schiavo Library, will be on hand to describe some of the events planned for the library this summer. Please come!

Yardsale: On Saturday morning, June 26, from 8:00 am until noon, the SIA is sponsoring a yardsale, downstairs at the firehouse. Attached are both a flyer and a registration form. For just $15.00, you will have an eight-foot table to present all those items you've been meaning to get rid of anyway! Linda Bateman and Janet Mahley are co-chairing this event, with help from Donna Diefenderfer. If you don't have need for a table, come out and get some great bargains - and enjoy free refreshments!  Questions to lcbateman@comcast.net  or 'phone (609) 263-4117.

SIA Bylaws: A committee has been working diligently for some months on updating the Bylaws. We expect to complete a draft to distribute via a newsletter in time to vote on the new version at the July 9 Meeting.

Fourth of July Parade: This year the Fourth, and thus the parade, falls on a Sunday. Therefore service at the Strathmere Church will begin a half-hour earlier (at 9:00) and the parade will start a half-hour later - at 11:00 am. Registration will be at 10:00 and judging at 10:30. As always, awards and refreshments following the parade will be at the Deauville Inn.

Strathmere "Stuff": Last year we offered tee shirts, caps and visors, and sold out of almost everything. This year, we'll again be offering a limited number of Strathmere adult shirts ($10), caps ($15) and visors ($12). Last year, we did not sell as many children's shirts as expected, so we'll be offering them at half-price ($5). These shirts come in children's extra-small, small, medium, large and adult small (same size as children's large, but longer).

We are also offering very attactive and useful "tote bags". These are similar to reusable grocery bags - but larger (and their's don't say "Strathmere"!). They are invaluable for many things around the home or as a beach bag, and are available for $2.50 each, or three for $7.00.

We'll have the tote bags available at Friday's meeting, and shirts, bags, hats and visors are almost always available at 212 Bayview Drive (call 263-6846 first so you don't waste a trip).

Future SIA Meeting Schedule: We'll be meeting at the Firehouse at 8:00 pm on the second Friday of each month; June 11, July 9, August 13 and September 10.

SIA Dues are due at $10 annually per adult. The dues and the fund raisers provide for the trash regulations, mailing the post cards, funding the Fourth of July Parade, and our share of the Star Party and Christmas Party. In the past, we've also donated money to help pay for extra State Police protection. If you have adult children or relatives (or visitors) who visit Strathmere, please forward this message to them - perhaps they'd like to be members and receive these e-mail messages also.
Please send dues payments to SIA at PO Box 57, Strathmere, NJ 08248. Remember to tell us your e-mail address!
