Schiavo Library: May 2012 Newsletter

Schiavo Library: May 2012 Newsletter

One Hundred Years Ago (1912):
We got some great entries for our contest – “Strathmere is the best town because….” Here are our winners: Sam Baker for best saying, Rosemarie Whelan for best poem (it’s awesome), and tie for best essay – Pat Snyder and Kami Griffin. Stop in for your prizes. Thanks!

All entries are going into a special folder: “Strathmere is our old hometown at the shore.” We will continue to collect memories, anecdotes and photos of Strathmere – then and now. Do you have something about Strathmere that you would like to share? The library is the place for it!!

Our Annual “Welcome Summer” Used Book Sale:
Donations have been coming in all winter and now we have hundreds of books for our sale. Stop in – it will definitely be worth it.

                                                            May 25 – June 9, 2012

This is a photo from last year – this year we will have even more books:

Summer Programs:
Watch for our new “Summer Program” brochure – coming soon!

Anniversary Scrapbook:
Our third anniversary is just around the corner – June 26th. We’re creating a special scrapbook for the occasion. It will feature photos of the building of the library, the grand opening and our past programs. Donna Diefenderfer and her daughter are the scrapbook experts who will help us assemble this tribute to Rita’s vision of a neighborhood library.
