Our summer hours are here. We’ll be open additional hours on Thursdays from 10 am to 8 pm. Children’s programs start on July 10th and our special family event for July is the Strathmere Environmental Week. The library will host two programs: “Traveling Turtles” on Tuesday, July 10th and a presentation by the Marine Mammal Stranding Center on Thursday, July 12th. And don’t forget – we’re air-conditioned!
Schiavo Library – Three Years Old:
We had fun celebrating our third anniversary - everyone enjoyed the cupcakes. A big thank you goes to Donna Diefenderfer and her daughter Dawn for creating a beautiful scrapbook to commemorate the occasion. Please stop in and look it over!
Strathmere continues to celebrate 100 great years. On July 4th the Press of Atlantic City featured a fact-filled article on the history of the town. Several residents were interviewed and extolled the virtues of this quiet little town on an island. As Ken Weaver says, “Shhh, it’s Strathmere, but don’t tell.”
Our “Welcome Summer” used book sale was a big hit as usual. We even extended it an extra week. We had 243 people visit the library to browse and buy. Our total profit was $427.70.
Upcoming events include:
