To All Strathmere and Whale Beach Homeowners and Visitors,
Happy Martin Luther King Day
(tomorrow)!
As
we’ve said many times, there is no trash collection on a holiday. The Township
makes an exception to this for the two “in-season” holidays, Memorial Day and
Labor Day (and July 4 if it falls on a Sunday or Monday), and does trash and
recycling collection on those days as if there were no holiday.
So, trash will not be collected until Tuesday, January 21,
and you will have to hold your recycling until Monday, January
27.
The Post Office will be closed tomorrow also.
Strathmere is treated differently for Bulk Trash (furniture, etc. but
not construction materials). The Township picks up our bulk trash on
every regular trash collection day (usually Monday). The exception to
this is that metal, electronics and mixed ridged plastics will only be picked up
on the first Wednesday of each month, but must be called in (609-628-2011 ext.
352) by the previous Friday.

addition to the snow on January 3, the lingering effects of the new moon and a
northeast wind brought “minor tidal flooding” to Bayview Drive.
Then we had a really cold spell on January 7 and 8 (down to 6
degrees with 25 mph winds...

Many folks had frozen pipes during this period, and now, we’re
bracing another stretch of cold!

Upper Township continues to improve their website to make it
more useful. It includes videos of Township Committee meetings, trash collection
info and much more.
We
have two new Committeemen, John Coggins and Hobie Young.
The Township site also hosts our Fire Commission Website, at a new URL address. If you’d like to see where your Fire District
property tax money goes, the information is all there.
Check these sites out and save them!
