SIA Newsletter 7 19 11 - Auction Saturday; Bay Races Tuesday

To all Strathmere and Whale Beach Homeowners and Visitors,

This Saturday evening, July 23, the Citizens For Strathmere and Whale Beach will hold their third annual auction at the Firehouse.
As most of you know, the CFSWB is responsible for the legal action to deannex Strathmere from Upper Township and make Strathmere part of Sea Isle City. Proceeds from the auction will be used to cover legal fees for this activity.
There will be a "Chinese" auction, a "Silent" auction, and finally a "Live" auction - all taking place this year from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
There will be lots of great stuff for the kids, along with complimentary soda, beer, wine and desserts.
Among the many items to be auctioned will be this 8" x 10" oil on linen original painting by Greg Bennett entitled, "Old Jetty on a Hazy Morning", valued at $1500.
It is in the plein air style, but done in the studio.

Here are a few pictures from last year's auction: Kids enjoy the Chinese Auction... Some of the many items for the Live Auction....

Folks check out items in the Silent Auction...

Look at those desserts!   And then the Live Auction!

Note that last year the Chinese Auction was scheduled to start at 4:00 pm, the Silent Auction at 7:00 pm and the Live Auction at 8:15.  This year it looks like both the Chinese Auction and the Silent Auction will begin at 7:00 pm, so adjust your bidding strategy accordingly...

Check out the new Beach Patrol Website, http://www.utbp.us/ and especially their "Strathmere Doors" poster!

On Tuesday evening, July 26, at 6:30, the first of several lifeguard boat races will take off down the bay in the annual MS 6-mile race that starts and ends at the Deauville Inn.

Here is a picture from last year's race. Watch from the Deauville, Twisties, the playground, street ends - or take some beer to a friend's who lives on the bay!

Our July 8 SIA Meeting was unfortunately held during a torrential storm that caused power outages throughout Strathmere. Our thanks to those who came anyway!

On Friday evening, July 29, The SIA will sponsor a "Strathmere Strut Dance Clinic"!
Guaranteed to be a lot of fun, the "clinic" will be run by members of the Brandis Dance Theatre. http://www.brandisdance.com/index2.html
Join us for a great time!

The Strathmere Improvement Association includes all owners and many visitors to Strathmere and Whale Beach. It was founded over 50 years ago as a community organization with the objective of making Strathmere a better place. We are proud of the organization's many accomplishments over the years. The dues and fund raisers provide for, among other things, funding the Fourth of July Parade, and our share of the Christmas Party. If you have adult children or relatives (or visitors) who visit Strathmere, please forward this message to them - perhaps they'd like to be members and receive these e-mail messages also.
You can contact us by responding to this e-mail sia6@comcast.net  or by mailing SIA at PO Box 57 in Strathmere.

Thanks to all for your continuing support!
