You may recall that we revised the SIA Bylaws to eliminate the June and September meetings. We only meet twice a year now – 8:00 pm on the second Friday evening in July and August. Put these dates on your calendar – we think you’ll really enjoy both!
The first meeting, on July 11 will include the nomination of officers for 2015. Our speaker will be Fred Dunbar, author of the Sea Isle Times column, "Financially Speaking". Fred is President of Planning Directions, Inc., a registered investment adviser, and Common Cents Planning, Inc. He will be exploring the topic of "Wills and How to Keep the (Shore) House in the Family."

Our second meeting. on August 8, will include the election of officers, the Bergus scholarship awards and "An Evening with Strathmere Artists / Photographers." Come enjoy our local talent. We have some talent already lined up, but if anyone wants to exhibit their work, we'll be happy to speak with you. Please reply to this newsletter.
Also, the SIA Community Beach Party will be held on August 2, with a rain date of August 9. Jim Maher, who performed so well last summer, is back by popular demand!
Come enjoy great music at an evening on the beach with your friends and neighbors. Bring along your kids for fun games. Pack a cooler, a blanket or your beach chairs! We’ll try to avoid the lightning storm that made last year so exciting!
Of course the SIA and the Fire Company will again sponsor the Fourth of July Parade. Dianne Cappellucci and Karen Mitchell are the chairpersons.

If you are a New Jersey resident, don’t forget to vote in the Primary Elections this Tuesday!

This Friday, June 6, is the 70th anniversary of D-Day.

It is also the 95th birthday for Strathmere’s Duke of Fluke, Herb Hollinger, Sr.! Herb wasn’t at D-Day because he was busy fighting in the Pacific with the US Navy.
We hope you’ll take time to send Herb a birthday card for his 95th – P.O. Box 37, Strathmere.

The ocean continues to wear away our north end, both at the Township Beach at Seaview and also the State Park.
Here are a few pictures taken today.

Here’s hoping we can make it to the beach replenishment!

The Strathmere Improvement Association includes all owners in Strathmere and Whale Beach and many visitors. It was founded in 1951 as a community organization with the simple objective of making Strathmere a better place. We are proud of the organization's many accomplishments over the years.
The SIA is keeping the annual dues at $10 per adult family member. The dues and the fund raisers provide for the Fourth of July Parade and our share of the Christmas Party. At the top of this newsletter we outlined some of our events for 2014.
NOTE: Since most of you never formally "signed up" as members, obviously we cannot "force" you to pay dues, which are really more like (non-deductible) donations anyway. If you don't pay, we will still keep you on our newsletter distribution. The only penalty will be that you can't vote in our (mostly uncontested) elections! Nevertheless, we really hope you see enough value in our projects and enjoy the newsletters enough so that you'll contribute $10 per adult family member.

Thanks!
Please send dues payments to SIA at PO Box 57, Strathmere, NJ 08248. Remember to tell us your correct e-mail address!

Also, please let us know if you have comments or suggestions for the newsletter or for SIA in general, or if you'd like us to change your e-mail address in our records.
You can contact us by responding to this e-mail at sia6@comcast.net  or by mailing SIA at PO Box 57.
