New Jersey 2014 Run for the Fallen Comes Through Whale Beach and Strathmere Today

To All Strathmere and Whale Beach Homeowners and Visitors,

If you can, this afternoon please come to the corner of Commonwealth and Vincent, outside the Riordan Real Estate office, between 2:15 and 3:00 pm, and pay tribute to one of our military lost in Afghanistan.
Today is the first day of the New Jersey 2014 Run for the Fallen. They started running at 8:30 this morning at the Cape May Lighthouse and will stop every mile to honor a fallen New Jersey Veteran.
Two things will happen here:
First, the Advance Party, including the Honor Truck and “Wall”, and then
the Military Run Team.

The Advance Party will be about 30 minutes ahead of the Run Team.
Here are pictures from a previous year:
The “Wall”

We actually have two mileposts today and two veterans being honored.

First, in Whale Beach, scheduled at 2:35 pm (Advance Team about 30 minutes earlier), at 2214 South Commonwealth Ave, they will honor

Sgt. Michael Egan, killed by an IED in Iraq.

Then, scheduled at 2:45 pm at Vincent Road, they will honor Cpl. Michael D. Jankiewicz, who was killed in Afghanistan.

You can find more information on the Run, including a map for each of the three days, here:

Come out and honor these veterans. Their families may also be in attendance.

Thanks.
Strathmere Improvement Association
